Belgium is a federal parliamentary constitutional monarchy in Western Europe, its capital Brussels. A hereditary monarch serves as head of state while an appointed Prime Minister heads the government, and the bicameral Federal Parliament, comprising the Senate and the Chamber of Representatives, holds legislative power. Belgium is governed under the Constitution of 1831.
