Colombia is a presidential representative democratic republic and multi-party system in South America, its capital Bogota. The President serves as both head of state and head of government, and the bicameral Congress of Colombia, comprising the Senate and the Chamber of Representatives, holds legislative power. Colombia is governed under the Constitution of 1991, enacted on 5 July 1991.
