The Democratic Republic of the Congo is a decentralized unitary semi-presidential republic in Central Africa, its capital Kinshasa. The President serves as head of state while the Prime Minister heads the government, and the bicameral Parliament, comprising the National Assembly and the Senate, holds legislative power. The country is governed under a constitution promulgated on 18 February 2006.
