Vietnam is a one-party communist state in Southeast Asia, governed by the Communist Party of Vietnam. A President serves as head of state and a Prime Minister as head of government, and the unicameral National Assembly holds legislative power. Vietnam is governed under its 2013 constitution, which took effect on 1 January 2014.
