The Constitution of the Republic of Poland, commonly called the 1997 Constitution, is the supreme law of the state known informally as the Third Polish Republic. It was adopted by the National Assembly on 2 April 1997, approved by national referendum on 25 May 1997, and came into force on 17 October 1997, replacing the 1992 Small Constitution, itself a revision of the 1952 constitution of the Polish People's Republic.
