Election Commission of India

The Election Commission of India is the autonomous constitutional body responsible for administering elections to India's Parliament, state legislatures and the offices of President and Vice President. Established on January 25, 1950 under Article 324 of the Indian Constitution, it has grown from a single Chief Election Commissioner into a three-member commission, and its conduct of India's general elections, which draw an electorate of hundreds of millions of voters across the country's federal states, makes it the largest single election administration exercise in the world.
