Hasan Akhund has served as the 27th Prime Minister of Afghanistan since being appointed permanently on 15 August 2025, having earlier held the role on an interim basis from 7 September 2021. Sources give no settled birth date: the United Nations carries two competing estimates for his year of birth, roughly 1945 to 1950 and roughly 1955 to 1958.
