Li Qiang has served as Premier of China since 11 March 2023, succeeding Li Keqiang, and is the second-ranking member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Chinese Communist Party. He previously served as Governor of Zhejiang from 2012 to 2016, Party Secretary of Jiangsu from 2016 to 2017 and Party Secretary of Shanghai from 2017 to 2022. He is regarded as pro-business and as part of Xi Jinping's political faction.
