Sanae Takaichi has served as Prime Minister of Japan since 21 October 2025, becoming the first woman to hold the office after her election as the first female president of the Liberal Democratic Party. She previously held ministerial posts under Prime Ministers Shinzo Abe and Fumio Kishida, including Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications and Minister of State for Economic Security.
