Sheikh Hasina is a Bangladeshi politician who served as Prime Minister of Bangladesh from 1996 to 2001 and again from 2009 to 2024. A daughter of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangladesh's first president, she is the country's longest-serving prime minister and one of the longest-serving female heads of government globally, and has served as president of the Awami League since 1981.
