Revolutions and Popular Uprisings

Mass uprisings that overthrew or attempted to overthrow a sitting government or ruling order, and the precipitating events of such an overthrow, including the American, French, Glorious, Russian, Xinhai and Iranian Constitutional Revolutions and the 2010s multi-country Arab Spring, filed here as a modern wave of popular mobilization against sitting regimes rather than given its own single-member bucket. Belongs here: a movement whose central act is mass mobilization to overthrow or fundamentally alter a ruling government from within its own territory. Does not belong here: a movement whose central aim is ending foreign or colonial rule over a territory, grouped under Independence and Anti-Colonial Movements.
